This paper builds on Revive: The place of music and education in the Australian cultural policy presented at the ISME Commission on Policy Seminar in 2024. The question being address in this paper is where are we now three years into the implementation of this policy? What are the markers of success and what remains to be implemented? The initial questions guiding the investigation will be revisited and include  Why was this policy developed? What are the links of the cultural policy to education (and in particular music education)? What are the anticipated benefits to the arts sector in Australia?

The policy is a five-year plan built around five pillars: 1. First Nations First, 2. A Place for Every Story, 3. Centrality of the Artist, 4. Strong Cultural Infrastructure, 5. Engaging the Audience. This paper presents a content analysis and discussion of the policy through the lens of the arts, music and music education. Consideration is given on its introduction and the preliminary reports, along with reference to previous work undertaken. At this mid-point in its implementation particular attention directed to the cultural policy and its impact of music and arts education.

This policy has been implemented in an ever-changing world and offers the opportunity to consider this through political and apolitical lenses.
