GannanTea-PickingOpera,apreciousintangibleculturalheritageofChina,isauniquelocaloperafromJiangxiProvincewithahistoryofover400years.Itisrenownedforitslively"threetunesandonemelody",distinctive"dwarfsteps","fanmovements"and"single-sleevegestures",aswellasitshumorousperformancestyle.However,itshighlyintegratedperformancesystem,whererhythmandmovementsarecloselyintertwined,poseskeychallengestoinheritanceandteaching. Toaddressthischallenge,thisworkshoppresentsaninnovativeembodiedteachingapproachcenteredontheconceptsof"connectingthrough'Jing'(rhythmmnemonics)"and"harmonizingthrough'Yun'(verve)"."Jing"referstoLuoGuJing(percussionmnemonics),aspokennotationinChineseoperaformemorizinganddirectingpercussionrhythms,servingastherhythmicframeworkandemotionalengineofperformances.Wemoveitbeyonditstraditionalroleasmereaccompanimentandtransformitintoabody-centeredprogressivelearningpathof“reciting,playing,singing,anddancing”.Participantswillengageinhands-onexperiences,startingfromcatchyrhythmicmnemonics,movingtodynamicbodymovements,andthentohighlyinteractivegroupgames.Throughfullparticipation,theywillnaturallyinternalizetherhythmicframework("Jing")andperformanceverve("Yun")andexternalizetheminactions.
