Designed for elementary-level educators, this session offers practical strategies, cultural insights, and resources to authentically incorporate a range of Latin American musical styles into classrooms serving learners of different ages and skill levels.Participants will engage with genres such as son, bomba, bachata, and merengue, musical forms that are rhythmically dynamic, significant, and accessible. Through singing, body percussion, movement, and storytelling, attendees will embody the music and deepen their understanding of its cultural and historical roots. The music of the Hispanic Caribbean reflects a powerful fusion of African, Indigenous, and Spanish influences, shaped by shared colonial histories and unique cultural evolutions.
