Description
Suzhou Shengpu "Lianxiang Dance," recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of Suzhou, boasts a transmission history of over three hundred years and holds significant value in ethnic cultural inheritance, academic research, and aesthetics. Centered around the use of the Lianxiang rod, Shenggu "Lianxiang Dance" integrates three intangible cultural elements—Lianxiang dance, Shengpu folk songs, and traditional attire of the water villages—into a unified practice, forming a living artifact of the transition from rice-farming civilization in the Jiangnan region to modern urban civilization. Moving beyond the limitations of single-item intangible cultural heritage studies, this research adopts an interdisciplinary approach to integrate performing elements from different fields.Currently, as Shengpu undergoes transformation from a traditional agrarian society to an urbanized one, the survival of "Lianxiang Dance" faces considerable challenges. This study employs methods such as literature analysis, field investigation, and interviews to conduct an in-depth examination and analysis of the current state of "Lianxiang Dance" transmission in Shengpu. Additionally, over twenty relevant research articles from the CNKI database were reviewed to synthesize existing studies on the inheritance and development of "Lianxiang Dance," while attempting to propose new approaches for its preservation.Based on preliminary research and documentation, this study aims to contribute to the steady development of "Lianxiang Dance" in China. By strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration from an educational perspective, it seeks to provide beneficial insights for various fields, including education, and to support the comprehensive educational transmission of China’s intangible cultural heritage.
