Description
Abstract: Choral singing plays a vital role in aesthetic education in elementary and secondary schools in China. However, introducing choral singing in the third grade poses a significant challenge that requires establishing a foundation in students’ ability to sing in multiple parts in the first and second grades to make the transition smoother. This article describes how to progressively cultivate students’ ability to listen and perform in multiple parts and presents a logically structured method for introducing polyphonic singing in the curriculum during the first and second grades of elementary school. This article also introduces an innovative concept in the design and construction of a musical “guiding bridge”, a concept that is being proposed for the first time in China. This innovative bridge allows younger students to proactively develop an understanding of polyphonic singing parts while they are learning monophonic songs, making choir studies more accessible.
