Description
This study investigates the use of Assistive Technology (AT) in music education for both NeuroAtypical teachers with sensory, intellectual, and motor challenges, and for their NeuroTypical peers. The primary objective is to determine how AT can support the continuing education and pedagogical practices of music teachers with diverse neurocognitive and motor profiles. The specific aims are: (a) to develop an AT platform designed for the continuing education of music teachers across basic, undergraduate, and graduate levels; and (b) to evaluate and validate this AT's effectiveness in teacher training. This research addresses a critical gap in the literature concerning professional development resources for NeuroAtypical music educators. Consequently, the study seeks to contribute to the development of inclusive methodologies and improve teachers' access to training programs. We will employ a mixed-methods design, combining qualitative and quantitative data through an exploratory and applied approach that includes bibliographic and experimental research. Will use non-parametric statistical tests to analyze data collected from experimental sessions with 30 NeuroTypical music teachers. This research is ongoing, with a projected completion date of December 2025.
