1339 - British Piano Legacy of the 20th Century: Frank Bridge, John Ireland, and Benjamin Britten
Date & Time
Thursday, July 30, 2026, 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Description
This project focuses on the depth and stylistic development of British piano music in the early 20th century, mainly focusing on the works of Frank Bridge, John Ireland, and Benjamin Britten. This project entails careful selection and professional recording of the representative piano works of these three composers and to address the issue of their lack of historical misrepresentations in final programs and recordings. Each selection highlights the composer's own style within the evolving British piano tradition and underscores the educational and artistic relationships among composers. Bridge and Ireland were outstanding educators at the Royal College of Music, with Britten as their student. This project juxtaposes three works within a single record, highlighting both continuity and contrast: Bridge's grand romanticism, Ireland's lyrical delicacy, and the emerging modern sound developed by Britten under his mentor's influence.
