Description
Taiwan experienced a surge in choral activity during the 1990s, and hosted first “Taipei International Choral Festival”, which connected Taiwanese choral music with the world, enhanced the choral culture in Taiwan, and facilitated the formation of diverse social choirs. This study focuses on "social choirs," defined as non-school affiliated choral groups that do not belong to any community, religious, and educational organizations.Taking the Taipei Philharmonic Women's Chorus, established in 2002 as a case study, its membership primarily consists of women from diverse, mostly non-professional music backgrounds who engage in choral singing to express musical interest and foster emotional exchange. The purpose of this study was to investigate the participation experiences and motivations of the Taipei Philharmonic Women's Chorus members, and to analyze their perceived sense of well-being.This study employs a qualitative research methodology, focusing on eight members of the Taipei Philharmonic Women's Chorus as research subjects. Data will be collected through in-depth interviews to explore the members' motives for participating in choral activities and to examine their subjective well-being (SWB), which encompasses life satisfaction, positive emotions, negative emotions. The findings are expected to provide a profound understanding of the impact of social choruses on members' psychological motivation and well-being, and to serve as a reference for choral organizations seeking to promote emotional bonding, enhance team cohesion, and improve long-term participation incentives. Furthermore, it aims to demonstrate the value of social music education in the promotion of psychological health.
