The Texas Tech University Steel Drum Band, “Apocalypso Now,” has entertained many audiences since its formation. The group performs music ranging from a Calypso style to "pop" hits. Under the direction of Dr. Lisa Rogers, this group has performed for such events as the 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, and 2023 Texas Music Educators Association Conventions; 1998, 2000, and 2006 Percussive Arts Society International Conventions; and 2002, 2011, and 2026 National Conferences on Percussion Pedagogy. World-renowned steel pan artists Andy Narell, Victor Provost, Tracy Thornton, and Liam Teague all have performed with “Apocalypso Now” on several occasions. The band has also performed aboard Norwegian and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as well as opened for The Beach Boys. The group also performed at the 2016 International Society for Music Education Conference in Glasgow, Scotland; 2017 International Kodaly Symposium in Camrose, Alberta-Canada; and 2024 Edeta Arts Percussion Festival in Valencia, Spain.
